Location: We are seeking an experienced Catering Sales Manager for the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is one of the busiest facilities in the world - a 4.6 million-square-foot facility located within a short distance of approximately 150,000 guest rooms. Operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the center is well known among industry professionals for its versatility. In addition to approximately 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space, 225 meeting rooms (more than 390,000 square feet) handle seating capacities ranging from 20 to 2,500.

Principal Function:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for managing aspects of show management and exhibitor operations. This role serves as a liaison between clients and Sodexo Live!, overseeing group business from initial contact to operational execution. Responsibilities include generating event orders, upselling, coordinating menus, facilitating event details, maintaining client relationships, and collaborating with food and beverage teams to ensure successful events.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees and guests in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Involved in catering events operations, including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility-related activities.
  • Adhere to high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Sodexo Live! regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and implement solutions.
  • Anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems as necessary.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal departments on functions such as pre-planning, amenities, site inspections, financial details, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and diagrams.
  • Serve as the main point of communication between show management, exhibitors, and property departments.
  • Develop strong relationships with all support departments to ensure successful client events.
  • Manage multiple conventions simultaneously, ensuring overall success.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a catering, convention services or special events department.
  • Proficient in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • Knowledgeable in food and beverage, health department rules and regulations, and Nevada liquor laws.
  • Experience in guest service and following up with clients.
  • Promptly respond to requests from meeting professionals.
  • Interact with external planners and vendors for event setup.
  • Create, review, and revise VIP meeting rooms and exhibits.
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff during functions as needed.
  • Collaborate with food and beverage managers and address issues as they arise.
  • Availability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to reach, lift, stoop, bend and perform extensive standing and walking (including stairs) throughout shift.
