Location: We are seeking an experienced Assistant Executive Steward for the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is one of the busiest facilities in the world - a 4.6 million-square-foot facility located within a short distance of approximately 150,000 guest rooms. Operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the center is well known among industry professionals for its versatility. In addition to approximately 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space, 225 meeting rooms (more than 390,000 square feet) handle seating capacities ranging from 20 to 2,500.

Principal Function

The Assistant Executive Steward will perform and supervise essential duties related to Banquet and Stewarding Operations as it pertains to equipment management, set up and breakdown of show events and preparation. This position reports directly to the Director of Logistics. This position provides supervision, leadership and direction to back of house staff. This position is a closing evening shift, hours may be extended as business levels demand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As the Assistant Executive Steward, you will be the guiding force behind every spectacular event and orchestrating the smooth operation regarding the Stewarding and Banquet Departments.
  • Your responsibilities will include managing an inventory of banquet equipment such as Keurig machines, water coolers, popcorn machines, service equipment and rental etc.
  • You will be a key player in asset management for banquet and stewarding service equipment.
  • You will participate in banquet set up and breakdowns, ensuring every corner of our Food & Beverage service areas sparkles.
  • You will ensure pantries are maintained, cleaned, re-stocked and closed out at the end of each event.
  • You will be the key liaison between our Stewarding and Banquet team.
  • This will include, but not limited to, assisting with creating pull sheets.
  • Attend BEO meetings and assist with supervisor/steward duties.
  • Supporting the food delivery from kitchen areas to banquet functions and exhibit floors.
  • Execute the seamless delivery, setup, and breakdown of food and associated equipment, transforming each event into an unforgettable experience.
  • Other tasks, projects, and duties in Concessions when needed as assigned by your direct supervisor or General Manager.

Qualifications/Skills Requirements:

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or appropriate combination of education and work experience to facilitate on-the-job effectiveness.
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience in banquet and stewarding department required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a hotel or convention environment preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and ability to think quickly.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, late in the evenings to include weekends and holidays.

Language Skills:

  • Candidate must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and communicate fluently in English. Written communication skills in English are also necessary.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly quartered environment.
  • While performing this job, an employee is regularly required to walk and stand for a long period of time.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
