Location: We are seeking a Barback at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners.
Job Type: Part-time Seasonal
*This position follows the Seattle Mariners' home-game schedule from March through September. Work from October to February is not guaranteed and is based on business needs and union seniority.
Union Status: Union
*This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with UNITEHERE Local 8.
Work Location: In person
Pay: $26.50 per hour
Principal Function:
- The Barback supports Sodexo Live! operations by assisting Bartenders and ensuring all bar areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked. This role helps maintain smooth service during shifts and events while contributing to maximized beverage revenue.
- This position works in a variety of settings, including restaurants, convention centers, sports venues, event arenas, and other entertainment-focused environments.
- The Barback assists Bartenders by handling basic guest requests, maintaining stock levels, monitoring assigned areas, and supporting tasks such as inventory counting, bussing bar areas, and washing glassware. The Barback is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and compliance with Sodexo Live! standards for food handling, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Set up, maintain, and clean bar workstations to ensure they are organized, properly supplied, and efficient.
- Contribute to the goal of 100% customer satisfaction through teamwork and a strong focus on service.
- Collaborate with Bartenders, servers, and bar management to promote positive team relations.
- Provide courteous, professional guest assistance and model Sodexo Live! service standards.
- Assist with bar and storage requisitions; retrieve, stock, and deliver supplies as directed.
- Ensure all bars are fully stocked, including drinkware, beverages, ice, and other bar necessities.
- Set up cocktail units and sinks; organize bottles; refill prepared beverage machines.
- Prepare garnishes using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
- Maintain adequate ice levels in all wells and service stations.
- Ensure sufficient supplies of bar towels, napkins, coasters, straws, stirrers, and related items.
- Stock beer coolers, draft systems, chilled wine, and other refrigerated beverages.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of food and beverage products, offerings, menus, and promotions.
- Support Bartenders by taking drink orders and serving food when requested.
- Follow all state and local alcohol service guidelines, including verifying guest identification.
- Maintain a clean work area at all times; promptly clean spills, wipe surfaces, mop floors, and collect empty glassware.
- Wash glassware as needed to ensure adequate supply.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
- TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol service training.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong team orientation and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to accurately count money and make change.
- Proficiency with calculators, bill counters, and coin counters.
- Capable of working independently and in a fast-paced, high‑stress environment.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests.
- Comfort with POS systems and digital registers.
- Strong customer service and persuasive sales skills.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Other requirements include but are not limited to:
- Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds in weight.
Hours are often extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
