Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified, motivated Director, Quality Assurance to lead the QA program for one of our largest Department of Defense (DOD) contracts.

Location: The ideal candidate will live near one of the locations on east or west coast; Camp Pendleton, CA, Quantico, VA, Parris Island, SC, and Camp Lejeune, NC. This is an "on-site" position due to the nature of the work and client contact.

Reports to: VP, Quality Assurance & Safety for the Government Segment and will lead a team that supports the QA program contractually obligated by contract.

Management: This position will manage and develop a team of individuals that directly support the QC program in collaboration with the operations teams.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provide representation, technical expertise, and guidance to regional operational management, support staff, and client(s) to help resolve food and physical safety emergencies, complaints, or contractual issues
  • Oversee and monitor the mess hall inspections following the Quality Control Program (including food safety and sanitation) for the East coast and West coast regions.
  • Monitor and provide training and technical expertise for Sodexo’s internal, automated, unit-level food safety auditing program
  • Participates and leads Accident Review Boards
  • Provides feedback to Operations Managers, Subcontractors, and the client (as applicable) on quality control and safety related matters
  • Provide training on appropriate or current food safety issues or concerns at regional or district meetings
  • Provide training, leadership, and direction to client, customers, operational management, regulatory groups, and crisis managers in the event of emergency situations of public health significance (e.g., suspected food-borne illness)
  • Provide notification to operational management and situation status to the client in product withdrawal and/or recall situations.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to instructors certified to teach Sodexo’s mandatory ServSafe food safety certification program
  • Work with GM and/or DM to write all CAR and CDR (elevated contract non-conformances issued by the Marine Corps) responses to the USMC Program Director.
  • Write audit schedules for both coasts and direct any additional needed site visits.
  • Ensure QC teams on both coasts are using Rizepoint audit results, audit results provided by Government auditors, customer satisfaction scores, and repeat non-conformance to ensure the team is conducting non-audit visits as the data dictates.
  • Attend Assistant Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR) meetings and obtain summaries for ACOR meetings at all other East Coast and West Coast installations.
  • Attend monthly Periodic Review Meeting (PRM) and provide East Coast and West Coast APL scoring summaries (as measured by Sodexo QC), explanations of non-conformance, etc. to the USMC Program Director and other attendees.
  • Attend and participate in East Coast and West Coast Contracting Officer Representative (COR) calls with the East and West Coast VPO’s and their respective District Managers.
  • Collaborate with Government Segment VP Quality and Safety Support on East Coast and West Coast Quality Control entries in the Summary Document and Slide Presentation presented to the Government as part of the semi-annual Incentive and Award meeting at USMC Headquarters.
  • Provide VP Quality and Safety Support updates on installation safety concerns.
  • Review East Coast and West Coast QC team audits (both APL and Comprehensive) for content and provide recommendations for improvement/change in auditing approach as needed.
  • Review audit Preventive Action Plans submitted by General Managers and work with District Managers where improvement is needed to sustain execution to minimize repeat non-conformance.
  • Work with DM’s to develop strategy to improve Customer Satisfaction scores.

Position Summary

Responsible for the Health & Safety Product Quality Assurance, leading the quality assurance of food commodity products and participating in the procurement process to define product quality standards, developing & monitoring specification limits, conducting product analysis to assure conformance, analyzing trends on product deficiencies and establishing vendor auditing protocols. Health & Safety includes all safety disciplines, such as environment, health and safety, food safety, and product quality assurance.

Works closely with other departments and SDX vendor’s technical support departments to develop new or improvements to current products/processes improvements. Establishes strong working relationships with all vendors to assure proper communication strategies are in place for market withdrawal programs (product recall or alerts).


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 7 years

Basic Functional Experience - 7 years of related experience
