Sodexo is seeking our Environmental Services - Custodial Manager 1 to join Sodexo at the State University of New York (SUNY) University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. This position is a 1st shift Weekend Manager position with Monday and Tuesday as days off.

Reporting directly to the General Manager our successful leader will:

  • Ensure a safe working environment or all employees
  • Lead the 1st shift weekend Shift in Custodial Management
  • Hours will be 1st shift weekend manager position with Monday/Tuesday days off
  • Manage a team including conducting timely interviewing and following Sodexo procedures for hiring
  • Perform all trash and recycle removal on and at designated off campus sites
  • Ensure customer satisfaction in housekeeping services, waste removal, and campus event management
  • Operate custodial equipment including but not limited to wet and dry vacuums, extractors, buffers, sprayers, auto scrubbers and electric carts
  • Demonstrate willingness to perform at a high level in a team environment

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage Departmental Fiscal Responsibility
  • Be a critical thinker, adapt to a changing environment
  • Effectively manage Sodexo’s SMS and Operating Systems
  • Build supply and inventory system - track consumables of custodial supplies
  • Have ability to work independently to drive program compliance for custodial department and motivate a diverse staff and by managing through shift supervisors

Position Summary

Provides management oversight for Environmental Services non-exempt level staff (client and/or Sodexo employees) in the delivery of Sodexo Environmental Service Programs. Ensures Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place as required to consistently meet all company, client, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for non-exempt work force planning through effective scheduling, development of daily work flow assignments, training and development, and monitoring for compliance to the plan.
Key Duties
-Establishes a safe work environment for clients, customers and staff by ensuring equipment safety and compliance with Sodexo safety and loss prevention programs and by providing safety-related training and equipment inventory maintenance.
-Provide leadership and direction to non-exempt employees
-Coordinate/conduct employee training
-Administer Human Resource processes (hiring, performance reviews, constructive counseling, prepare work schedules, payroll, etc.)
-Interact with outside vendors
-Ensure Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place and consistently met.
-Develop/implement action plans for improvement in compliance with Sodexo Operating Standards as identified.
-Reviews and maintains assigned areas of the Sodexo/Client budget commitments.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
