Sodexo is seeking a Executive Chef 2 for Bethune-Cookman University located in Daytona Beach, FL. Beautiful HBCU campus located two miles from Daytona Beach and Daytona International Speedway. Great opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and talent on a wonderful campus with a great group of international students. We host several multi-cultural events annually and we are looking for a Super Star to help us create an amazing student dining experience.

Direct oversight of purchasing for all aspects of the unit including but not limited to Main Dining Hall, Catering and Retail outlets. The qualified candidate must be experienced in managing all aspects of a restaurant and/or campus dining, including staff, food, quality and inventory management:

  • Staff management: Hires, trains, and supervises kitchen staff, including cooks, food preparation workers, and dishwashers
  • Menu planning: Creates menus, specials, and portion sizes
  • Food quality: Ensures food is fresh, prompt, and high quality
  • Inventory management: Manages inventory of ingredients and kitchen supplies, and controls costs
  • Health and safety: Ensures compliance with food safety regulations and health and safety policies
  • Kitchen operations: Oversees kitchen operations, including prep work and ensuring a smooth workflow
  • Communication: Communicates kitchen needs to General Manager
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with other managers to maintain a cohesive operation
  • Performance: Sets and monitors performance standards for staff, and conducts performance reviews
  • Customer feedback: Obtains feedback on food and service quality, and handles customer problems and complaints
  • Industry trends: Stays abreast of industry trends and incorporates new techniques or technologies

The qualified candidate will have a passion for safety, sanitation and cutting edge culinary concepts to introduce into a campus dining environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations;
  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance; and/or
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
