Sodexo is seeking a an experienced chef to join the team as an Executive Chef 4 at Yale New Haven Hospital -York Street Campus located in New Haven, CT. Yale New Haven Hospital is a provider of comprehensive, integrated, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialties, supported by the skill and expertise of more than 7,500 university and community physicians and advanced practitioners.
The Executive Chef 4 is responsible for maintaining kitchen operations, implementing culinary systems, inventory management, financial outcomes, contract compliance as well as training and developing employees while ensuring food safety.
The ideal candidate will have HACCP knowledge and/or be ServSafe certified, experience with inventory management, food ordering, ability to control food and labor costs, strong leadership skills, excellent client and customer interaction skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
The successful candidate will:
- implement and standardize all culinary systems and procedures for hospital
- manage, direct, and mentor frontline staff
- procurement and purchasing
- create menus based on client needs
- implement innovative and fresh ideas in retail, catering, and patient services
- create interpersonal relationships with client
We are looking for candidates who have:
- a strong culinary background in a high-volume environment
- strong management skills and experience
- menu planning experience and a strong understanding of current culinary trends
- proficient computer skills, highly organized, and detail-focused
- a proven ability to set up processes, create efficiencies, and solve problems with little to no direction
- ServSafe Certified with proven working knowledge of HAACP

While the budgeted range for the position is posted, Sodexo salary offers are based on a candidate's specific criteria, like experience, skills, education and training.
Position Summary
Directs daily operations of food production, including menu planning, purchasing, ordering, inventory food preparation, post meal analysis and record keeping. Ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory, and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
Establishes operating standards, implements and maintains Sodexo and branded concepts standards, creates quality improvements and communicates them to employees.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. HACCP, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel, SoSafe and EcoSure).
Trains other chefs/staff on culinary skills through day to day trainings as well the use of Culinary Foundations trainings and standards, and serves as technical expert.
Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for all aspects of food production to ensure account retention.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 5 years
Basic Functional Experience - 3 years
