Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 1 for The Camden Promise School located in Camden, New Jersey. The Food Operations Manager 1 will manage and have oversight of day-to-day operations; The position is responsible for managing the daily dining operations, catering operation, and supporting a total of 7 School sites with a total managed volume of 2 million. Position requires strategic planning and controlling costs. Candidate must have the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, specifically leading front-line teams and front of the house operations, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with the culinary team. In this role you will plan, train, and support national marketing, client marketing and in-house roll-outs to support unit operations.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Casual and fine dining banquet management experience with a passion for food and innovation
  • Deliver high quality food service.
  • Experience with hiring, on-boarding, and managing corrective counseling.
  • Experience working with chefs to assure high food quality, innovative menus and healthy recipes.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies.
  • Have culinary and/or restaurant production experience and a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and in concert with co-managers to manage the daily operations of the catering department through direct supervision of non-exempt/hourly employees, including hiring, orientating, scheduling, training, and developing employees.
  • A background and success in implementing marketing into social media and websites.
  • possess dynamic communication skills and will be an ambassador for Sodexo to our customers.

The successful candidate will:

  • identify customer needs and expectations;
  • ensure that Sodexo and customer goals are aligned and met;
  • educate and develop rapport with clients and promote partnerships;
  • promote a customer/client centered culture that strives to exceed customer and client needs;
  • coordinate all unit catering initiatives to drive sales growth and track results.
  • maintain and improve service level resulting in increased customer satisfaction;
  • ensure all HAACP standards are followed; and/or
  • demonstrate resourcefulness and quick responsiveness to client and customer requests.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
