Sodexo's School Services Division is seeking a high energy General Manager in the greater Chicagoland, Illinois area for anticipated growth within the market. Travel of up to 30-40% in the Midwest depending upon business needs.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in K-12 food service operations, food and labor cost controls, while also having proven success in driving customer results. The ability to professionally and clearly articulate ideas, thoughts, and opinions within all levels of the organization is critical.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Prior Schools General Manager-level experience
  • Experience with driving revenues
  • Experience training and leading a food service team
  • Excellent client relation skills and financial acumen
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Customer service, excellent client relations and team building skills are a must.
  • Account receivable and payable experience is required, along with the skill set to effectively implement all USDA training requirements.
  • Strongly prefer a candidate with strong K12 and Sodexo experience.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) encouraged to apply.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement – Associate’s degree, with academic major in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field

Basic Management Experience - 3 years

Basic Functional Experience - 4 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience
