Sodexo is seeking a General Manager 4-Food for NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. NYC H+H/North Central Bronx is a community hospital dedicated to serving the health needs of all New Yorkers. Since opening in 1976, North Central Bronx has offered outstanding care for women’s health services, as well as primary care, pediatrics, and specialty ambulatory services.

The General Manager 4-Food at this location is a highly visible role and will be responsible for managing a team of approximately 55 client staff in a union environment.This unit utilizes the standard patient tray line operations with a Cook/Chill meal delivery system. The hours are generally Mon-Fri day-shift, with an occasional weekend (hours may vary to meet the needs of the business).

The ideal candidate for this role must have previous food management experience in a healthcare environment, strong performance improvement, employee engagement skills, staffing and labor development, and a solid financial acumen with knowledge of financial contracts. This candidate must be a team player with excellent communication, leadership and customer service skills. Prior experience managing a union workforce a plus.

The successful candidate will:

  • have oversight of day-to-day operations;
  • successfully coordinate all required tasks through subordinate managers, supervisors and front-line staff;
  • deliver high quality food services including retail, catering and patient meal management operations;
  • achieve company and client financial targets and goals;
  • develop and maintain client and customer relationships (i.e., comfortable in c-suite settings where communication skills are imperative when serving as top level site management)
  • develop strategic plans;
  • ensure HACCP, regulatory and standards compliance;
  • have daily interaction with patients, their families and clinical team to ensure patient satisfaction;
  • create a positive environment; and/or
  • ensure Sodexo standards are met.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
