Location: The Boston Symphony Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the second-oldest of the five major American symphony orchestras commonly referred to as the "Big Five." The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881. Today the BSO reaches millions of listeners through not only concert performances in Boston and at Tanglewood, but also via streaming on BSO NOW, educational and community programs, radio, television, recordings and tours.
