Sodexo has an exciting opportunity for a District Registered Dietitian- Universities to support Dining Services at 8 campus locations within South Dakota state. This position will grow to include additional campus as the business continues growing! We are flexible to consider office locations anywhere in South Dakota, but preference for individuals who are commutable to Sioux Falls, Brookings, and Vermillion.

Reporting to the District Manager, the Regional Dietitian will be the subject matter expert within Dining Services, the University, and the Campus Community. This position will require strong leadership ability, food service skills, clinical knowledge, and a desire to engage the campus population in conversations around nutrition. Sports nutrition experience is a plus!

Offering Relocation Assistance

The successful candidate will:

  • conduct tabling sessions across the campuses and create regular communications intended to motivate and engage the population in healthy eating habits;
  • work with nutrition issues related to food allergies, weight management and disordered eating patterns and other medical issues requiring meal selection assistance;
  • remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in nutrition and dietetics;
  • partner closely with an Executive Chefs and/or café management teams in selecting healthy menu items, evaluating sales and determining what can be offered differently, and promoting nutritional campaigns;
  • work with athletics teams to provide nutrition counseling and education;
  • participate in campus and community events and develop and deliver presentations as needed to support client goals;
  • support food service operations as needed; and/or
  • provide direction for planning strategic goals, standards of the brand and maintaining effective communication with other managers and inter-department liaisons.

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who:

  • are a Registered Dietitian credentialed with CDR and state licensed in SD;
  • are an expert on dietary preferences and allergies and serve to guide nutritional choices accordingly;
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels;
  • have the proven ability to effectively engage, motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition;
  • have strong presentation skills;
  • have demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with the ability to adapt the changing needs of the role;
  • have a history of working independently with little direction; and/or
  • have a commitment to continued education in the nutrition field and implementation of new and innovative ideas to implement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

For those eligible for the registration exam prior to 1/1/24:

Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

Credentials Requirement:

Meets eligibility requirements for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and will become registered within 120 days of hire. In some states and/or facilities the RD/RDN credentials is required at the time of hire
Certification/licensure as required by state(s) of practice. In some states and/or facilities state certification/licensure is required at the time of hire

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
