Nourish is looking for an Sous Chef to join the team at the Commissary Kitchen in Santa Clara, CA.
Job Summary: Nourish’ s Sous Chef will support in driving Operational production in our commissary kitchen in California. As Sous Chef, you will support in overseeing our daily culinary operation to ensure food quality and food integrity is executed to the highest standard and collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure the utmost level of client satisfaction. You will orchestrate and standardize all culinary systems and nurture a culture-first ethos that inspires, develops, and mentors our passionate culinary staff. This role requires a thoughtful leader with a culinary background in high volume settings and proficiency in production planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Nourish brand from an operational lens and provide high quality, memorable food experiences around all elements leaving the kitchen
- Supervise day-to-day culinary systems and procedures (including how the food is executed, presented/held/displayed at client sites)
- Ensure all recipes provided are executed appropriately while providing constructive feedback to process and recipe alterations as needed
- Collaborate with commissary culinary management team on production planning and execution
- Engage in joint efforts with our Unit Safety Manager to ensure Food safety protocols are implemented and maintained and Quality Assurance is upheld.
- Production execution, Quality Control/Quality Assurance and time tracking
- Ensure employees are following GMPs ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to policy
- Maintain working knowledge of and assist with implementation of new and existing SOPs and policies across production teams; ensure processes and policies are adhered to at all times
- Ensure that Meal Components are properly labeled with correct amount, date, meal code
- Driving and challenging production for better efficiency and accuracy to accomplish targeted goals for the shift.
- Ensure all documentation, Quality Control and Quality Assurance are conducted, completed and submitted on time.
- Additional duties that may be assigned
- Supervise, develop and encourage staff with an inspiring, culture first ethos
- Develop and lead a staff of hourly employees.
- Leads by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
- Supervise day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning, prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards.
The successful candidate will:
- Associate’s degree or Culinary Certificate preferred
- 2+ years as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Assistant Manager in a catering, food manufacturing, or high-volume food production environment
- Must have strong culinary background, preferably having worked in a high volume, fast paced environment where accuracy and consistency of product are critical to success
- Knowledge of HACCP and safe food handling procedures Education & Experience:
- Culinary Certificate or equivalent experience

Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
